APA COSTA DOS CORALS
The Costa dos Corais Environmental Protection Area (APACC) is the largest coastal marine conservation unit in Brazil, and is among the ten most visited Conservation Units in the country. With approximately 413 thousand hectares of area and 120 km of beaches and mangroves, it is a unit of sustainable use that seeks to combine environmental conservation with tourism and fishing, ensuring the conservation of this environment for current and future generations.
Its importance is due to the existence of coral reefs and mangroves, with a rich biodiversity represented by algae, corals, fish, crustaceans, molluscs, aquatic mammals and also includes the occurrence of endangered species such as the marine manatee, turtles and whales.
